“Can Mushrooms Save the Planet?” This the question which Rayne Grant poses. She is on a mission and has set out to collect as much information that she can in order to find the answers… and to produce this Documentary. Some people say that NOTHING can save our planet, others suggest the idea that Fungi have preceded us on this planet, and will continue it’s cleanup process whether or not we are here.
After watching a TED talk by Paul Stamets titled, “6 Ways Mushrooms Can Save the World“, Rayne became very interested in this concept. She begun researching this topic in a frenzy and found that there are far more than 6 ways that Mushrooms can indeed help save our planet.
“After a very insightful dream, I knew what I had to do. I had to find out the answers from the experts and make a documentary about it!”
It has almost been a year since the initial concept was born. Starting at the Telluride Mushroom Festival in 2012 was a good place to meet with several people at one time. Travels throughout Colorado and down through Austin, TX have accumulated much information.
Rayne wishes to be able to travel up through the NorthWest to experience the multitudes of mushroom blooms. She also envisions traveling to South America where the jungles hold many treasures. She also wants to see Mycoremediation and clean ups with Mushrooms in person and also be a part of the process.
“It’s all a matter of funding. So far, I have a concept, some equipment, the energy, and a magnitude of vision, but what I lack are the funds. So, I am only able to do what I can do in the time that I have.”
Rayne is about to launch an Indie GoGo Crowd Fund in hopes that with some extra funding, more subjects can be covered.
“There is just so much that people are doing with Mushrooms, and I really want to go and see what they are doing, first hand!”
